1.Brent Lippy Hello Professor and Classmates,As you think about your company’s ability to forecast future sales and profit, what are two or three of the most significant variables that are difficult to predict? As I think about the company and their ability to forecast for the future of sales and overall profitability two things come instantly to mind and that is the used truck market and its health and oil and fuel prices. While historical trends are beneficial in helping plan for the future many things are unavoidable and pose risks to a forecast. For example, there was a predicted slow down for 2018 in the used truck market by most every freight and transportation company due to the number of new deals signed at the tail end of 2017 and beginning of 2018. These new deals were pushing a lot of used vehicles into the market and the congestion was forecasted to stall the used truck market. In reality what happened was by June of 2018 the price of used trucks increased by 2% over the previous month and over 6% compared to the previous year (Kingston, 2019). What information and data would you use to improve the forecast accuracy? The best information that can be gathered on used vehicle markets is from ACT Research, they analyze freight movement, new DOT requests and other key metrics in the market and create reports for the industry. Ryder also uses a tool called Fleet Seek that allows the user to build reports for DOTs and transportation company sizes based on DOT and industry type. By having these two tools a comparative report and be compiled to predict the short-term markets most recommend by quarter. For fuel and oil pricing the best resource is the U.S. Energy Information Administration they create comparative reports based on historical data in the market to forecast fuel liquid fuel costs based on crude oil pricing. These forecasts are based on available fuel stockpiles, consumer and business consumption, and changes in the global economy. For instance, the EIA forecasts that even with the availability and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines (Which Ryder is supplying refrigeration equipment for) the consumption of liquid fuels is to average 19.5 million barrels per day in 2021 with a slight increase in 2022 (U.S. Energy Information Administration, 2021). By reviewing these forecasts, you can build a forecast for potential demand for freight based on fuel consumption. Below is a forecast model on the U.S crude oil production based on 2019 and 2020 production from demand. How can you go about collecting and leveraging this data? Most of these reports from ACT and Fleet Seek you have to be a paying subscriber to their service; most employees that aid in the forecasting have user IDs and passwords as subscribers. Gathering the data is not difficult analyzing and leveraging the data can be more time consuming. Once the finance department has the data sets, they compile the data it is presented and the VPs and President of the organization and the team use it to determine the forecast for the next quarter. These reports are continuously reviewed for any changes and if any are noted the decision makers report the changes to leadership and their plan for adjusting their section of the business to match the market. Being the manager of assets for North America my task is constant communication to the OEMs for timing on assembly of units. This information is vital in fleet timing and turning the dial on units pushed into the used truck market. If there is a delay in manufacturing the used trucks are dialed back and retained to meet demand. This in turn can drive a spike in the used truck market since newer units will take time to get. Allowing managers to drive decisions in their departments and report the changes allows us to be flexible and change as the market does. And that is the best way to leverage the information that is gained from these various sources. Thanks,BrentReferencesKingston, J. (2019, August 14). Models
Estimating
How can you go about collecting and leveraging this data?Historical Data-If market conditions remain relatively unchanged, a reliable method of forecasting is using historical data. Companies keep track of past sales figures, and records include how many units sold, the prices obtained, the profit earned and the channels through which the company sold the products. Forecasters can adjust these figures for reliable deviations such as inflation, and the resulting forecasts have little risk. If market conditions change unexpectedly, the risk of an incorrect forecast changes drastically and the company may have to make rapid adjustments to sales forecasts to avoid serious overproduction.
Models -In the absence of reliable data or if market conditions have changed, models provide a way of forecasting that relies on typical behavior for a specific product. Models are especially useful for new products with no sales history. They assume that product sales rise slowly at first with sales increasing rapidly during an intermediate period and then leveling off, based on market saturation. Such curves relate to single-purchase products, but forecasters can adapt the models to repeat purchases by running additional market tests to determine the rate of repeats and the continuing market share. The risk of forecasting errors is low if the model is accurate. Forecasters can check the quality of the model by running market tests to verify its relevance.
Estimates- Sales forecasts often are based on estimates of future levels of relevant factors. Sales depend on demand, price levels, supply and the competitive environment. Forecasters estimate the level of demand and supply, set their own price levels and develop plans for competitors’ approach to the market. The risk of this type of forecasting is that estimates may be wrong because some of the underlying data is inaccurate or unavailable. To reduce the risk of oversupply, forecasters adjust the estimates for demand downward and supply upward.

I need support with this Management question so I can learn better.ScenarioSuzan has worked for Organization ABC for one year. During her 30-day review, Suzan received amazing scores from her supervisor. During her 60-day review, Suzan’s performance was deemed as acceptable, but her ability to communicate with her colleagues was lacking. During Suzan’s 90-day review, Suzan’s supervisor, at the time, expressed that her performance needed serious improvements. Unfortunately, Suzan’s supervisor noted the following:Suzan did not provide her colleagues with messages from customers and vendors.
Suzan’s phone skills were ineffective, especially when interacting with customers.
Suzan’s temper was a concern and she often raised her voice when she became frustrated.
You have been hired to replace Suzan’s previous supervisor. Between Suzan’s 90-day review and presently (her annual review), you have noticed that Suzan’s performance still is a problem. Before her departure from the organization, Suzan’s past supervisor stated, “Suzan is nice; however, she is a horrible communicator. I cannot work with her, as she is such a challenge to deal with… Good luck, as Suzan is one of the worst employees of Organization ABC.”During your first week in your new role as supervisor, you met with Suzan to understand more about her performance. She stated, “I am a hard worker; however, I only was told what I was doing wrong. I am willing to learn. Can you help me become the best employee for Organization ABC? I want to succeed in this role.”As a supervisor, you know that you have various responsibilities. One of your responsibilities is to address performance deficiencies. Although Suzan was provided with a job description, which included detailed information about the critical nature of communication in her role, she needs additional support.Examine pages 79 and 80 in your textbook (Aguinis, H. (2019). Performance management. 4th ed). Then, create a plan, specific to Suzan’s needs, detailing how you will utilize the following to ensure improved performance:Observation and documentation
Updates
Feedback
Resources
Reinforcement
For example, when thinking about observation and documentation, what might you do to keep track of Suzan’s performance? Why? When thinking about updates, how will you keep Suzan updated? Explain and justify your rationale for each of the five components and why you made the recommendations that you provided.Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:Be 6-7 pages in length, which does not include the title and reference pages, which are never a part of the content minimum requirements.
Use academic writing standards and APA style guidelines.
Support your submission with course material concepts( Aguinis, H. (2019). Performance management. 4th ed) , principles and theories from the textbook and at least three scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles.

I’m studying for my Management class and need an explanation.I need to provide a critical review to this following post made by one of my classmates regarding a case presentation:Note: I am also attaching below the case presentation on which these questions are based just in case you want to review it.In your opinion, describe at least three factors in the external environment that could (positively or negatively) affect the success of Macy’s new strategy? Also, describe at least three internal factors that could affect the success of the company’s strategy?External FactorsMacy’s deal to host holiday events will increase their popularity and attract more customers
The customers’ dispensable income could either strengthen or weaken Macy’s. If the customer’s income is increased, they can purchase more products but if reduced they can’t afford to shop at Macy’s
Macy’s beginning selling more advertised products such as Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren will strengthen them by differentiating them from their competitors
Internal Factors Remodeling the stores for a nice, pleasant environment. Broader aisles, cleaner dressing rooms and bathrooms can benefit Macy’s
Initiating a program called “Everyday Value,” which was designed to minimize the use of promotional sales and coupons in favor of routine value pricing.
Focusing on women as the primary target had benefit the Macy’s success
Evaluate Macy’s 2005 consolidation and repositioning strategy: what are its strengths and weaknesses?Utilizing well-known celebrities as spokespeople could either increase or decrease Macy’s sales due to the celebrity’s reputation
Closing stores and reopening them in national outlets and mall can benefit Macy’s. Majority of tourists and shoppers go to these locations whether than individual stores.
Continuing to make their own clothing, bedding, and more products might sustain their sales because of the focus on women as their target.
Porter (1996) – “What is strategy” – Download PDF – argues that goal of strategy, and a key to achieving a sustainable competitive advantage, is finding a unique and valuable position. In your opinion, has Macy’s found a unique and valuable position in the retail landscape through its new strategy? Explain. Although Macy’s experienced good and bad times, they reconstructed their strategic decision in a sustainable approach. During the first several years, they were unable to sell off their inventory, but the important aspect is to allow the company to maintain their growth levels. I think they did find a unique and valuable position. It might not be the best, but their goal is to maintain a protuberant presence in front of their stockholders and employees
4. What is your prediction for the future of Macy’s? Where do you think the company will be in 15 years (i.e., 2020) if it continues with the strategy outlined in the case? Explain the reasons for your prediction in details. My prediction is that Macy’s might decline in the future. They’re playing it safe now and that making pass by. But eventually, their customers will get bored of the same products. For example: Target
