Your case study looks Halston and Stokes, a venture capital firm. Answer all questions posed completely.
Granger Stokes, the managing partner of the venture capital firm of Halston and Stokes, was dissatisfied with the top management of PrimeDrive, a manufacturer of computer disk drives. Halston and Stokes had invested $20 million in PrimeDrive, and the return on their investment had been below expectations for several years. In a tense meeting of the board of directors of PrimeDrive, Stokes exercised his firm’s rights as the major equity investor in PrimeDrive and fired PrimeDrive’s chief executive officer (CEO). He then quickly moved to have the board of directors of PrimeDrive appoints himself as the new CEO.
Stokes prided himself on his hard-driving management style. At the first management meeting, he asked two of the managers to stand and fired them on the spot, just to show everyone who was in control of the company. At the budget review meeting that followed, he ripped up the departmental budgets that had been submitted for his review and yelled at the managers for their “wimpy, do nothing targets.” He then ordered everyone to submit new budgets calling for at least a 40% increase in sales volume and announced that he would not accept excuses for results that fell below budget.
Keri Kalani, an accountant working for the production manager at PrimeDrive, discovered toward the end of the year that her boss had not been scrapping defective disk drives that had been returned by customers. Instead, he had been shipping them in new cartons to other customers to avoid booking losses. Quality control had deteriorated during the year as a result of the push for increased volume, and returns of defective disk drives were running as high as 15% of the new drives shipped. When she confronted her boss with her discovery, he told her to mind her own business. And then, to justify his actions, he said, “All of us managers are finding ways to hit Stokes’s targets.
Based on the scenario above, answer the following questions completely:
Is Granger Stokes using budgets as a planning and control tool?
What are the behavioral consequences of the way budgets are being used at PrimeDrive?
What, if anything, do you think Keri Kalani should do?
Answer each question completely. Requirements:
While there is no required page length, each question must be addressed completely.
Your assignment will be double-spaced, APA formatted pages, including a reference page.

Compare and contrast two (2) differences between health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and preferred provider organizations (PPOs). Classify the plan that you believe would be most beneficial for the majority of insured patients. Provide support for your rationale.
As a Human Resources manager for a mid-sized company in your area, you have been tasked with purchasing the best group health insurance for your organization. Analyze at least two (2) lifestyle choices relative to the effect(s) that these choices could have on the organization’s premiums. Support your rationale with two (2) health economic examples.
Debate It: Take a position that the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act in 2014 will or will not create a market failure for insurance companies. Provide evidence to support your position.
Katrina, a risk manager for State Farm Insurance, filed a petition in bankruptcy under Chapter 7, seeking to discharge $55,000 in credit-card debts and $35,000 in student loans. Katrina’s husband died and left her with two children, Paula, who attended college, and Dean, who was fifteen years old. According to Katrina, Dean was an “elite” runner who practiced ten to fifteen hours a week and placed first or second at more than forty competitive events. Dean was homeschooled with academic achievements that were average for his grade level. Katrina’s petition showed monthly income of $5,400 and expenses of $5,100. The expenses included annual homeschool costs of $6,200 and annual running expenses of $7,500. The expenses did not include college costs for Paula, or airfare for her upcoming summer trip to Italy, and other items. The trustee allowed monthly expenses of $4,400, with nothing allocated for running expense and asked the court to dismiss the petition.
If Katrina qualified for Chapter 7, which debts would be discharged? Which debts would not be discharged? Why?
Using the median income from your state(michigan), does Katrina qualify for Chapter 7? Remember to count the number of people in the household.
Should the court grant the trustee’s request? Does Katrina have other options if the Chapter 7 petition is dismissed?
Explain your answers and support them with relevant scholarly sources.
